Steam, Itch.io and Store Integration

Indie Pocket templates are designed to help you showcase your game professionally, and an important part of that is linking your website to your store pages on platforms like Steam and Itch.io. Proper integration ensures that players can easily find and purchase your game from your site.

Linking your Store pages

Your website should prominently feature links to where players can buy or wishlist your game. Most Indie Pocket templates include buttons or sections dedicated to store links.

When setting these up:

  • Use your official Steam store URL or Itch.io page link.

  • Place store buttons in visible locations such as the homepage, game page, or header/footer.

  • Make sure buttons open in new tabs, so visitors don’t leave your site entirely.

Embedding store Widgets

Both Steam and Itch.io offer widgets that you can embed directly on your site to display your game’s status, pricing or wishlist counts. Embedding these widgets adds dynamic content and can encourage visitors to take action.

  • Steam Widgets: Available via Steamworks, you can get HTML snippets for buttons, banners or achievement showcases.

  • Itch.io Widgets: Itch.io provides embeddable widgets for purchase buttons and game demos.

To embed widgets in your Indie Pocket template on Framer, use the Embed component and paste the widget’s HTML code. Position the widget where it fits best visually.

Tracking store Referrals

To measure how much traffic your website sends to your store pages, use URL parameters or referral tracking tools. This can help you understand which pages or campaigns drive the most sales or wishlists.

For example, add UTM parameters to your store links: https://store.steampowered.com/app/123456/MyGame/?utm_source=website&utm_medium=button&utm_campaign=launch

Google Analytics and other tools will track these parameters and show you referral details.

Keeping store information Updated

Make sure your website’s store links and widgets are always up to date, especially when you:

  • Change pricing or discounts

  • Add new platforms (e.g., from PC to consoles)

  • Update game descriptions or media

Regular updates maintain credibility and ensure players find the right information.

Best practices for Indie Games

  • Highlight your store links with clear calls-to-action like “Buy on Steam” or “Wishlist on Itch.io.”

  • Avoid cluttering your site with too many store buttons; focus on your main platforms.

  • Consider adding launch countdowns or event banners near store links during key dates.
